Cat Boyer Smith

Cat Boyer Smith is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is deeply rooted in the rhythms of nature, music, and memory. Her tree-centric imagery draws inspiration from the flickering glow of firelight, the movement of shadows through forests, and the quiet atmosphere created around a campfire beneath the night sky. Through layered textures, organic forms, and immersive compositions, her work explores the emotional relationship between humanity and the natural world.

A lifelong creative, Cat began developing her artistic foundation in childhood under the guidance of her mother, learning illustration and visual storytelling at an early age. Music became equally influential in shaping her creative voice, beginning with classical training in violin, piano, and voice, and later expanding into guitar, mandolin, and upright bass. This lifelong connection to music continues to inform the rhythm, movement, and emotional tone present throughout her visual work.

Cat earned her B.A. degree in Multimedia Arts with a minor in Painting from University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she cultivated an interdisciplinary approach that bridges fine art and design. Beyond painting and illustration, her creative practice spans website design, graphic design, garden design, and immersive visual branding. Her work reflects a balance between technical craftsmanship and intuitive expression, blending modern multimedia techniques with a deep reverence for the organic beauty of the natural world. Cat is also a writer, and has authored several books, her most recent is A Guide to Urban Sustainability.
